7 Months! I can't believe time has gone so fast, only five months until you turn one! So crazy! I love you so much more and more each day! You have been so funny these last few weeks, just with the holiday season and also everything you do, is just input and you're learning so much!! Watching you open presents was the sweetest thing {well, eat the paper off of your gifts!} You got tons of fun toys and books, that you love to play with. Your aunt Oshay and aunt Katie got you a drum set, so needless to say we'll be leaving that at Mimi and Papa's!

You got all dressed up in sweet outfits and you look just as cute as red and green as you do in pink! You're mommy and daddy's little chunk and now that you're starting to get more mobile and move some much that you are losing some of your rolls and it's so sad! I love them, and you're always gonna be my little chubby baby!

Weight: 19lbs
Height: 27inches

You're officially sitting up on your own!! So exciting and fun! You are getting the whole crawling them almost down, {you push yourself up, but can't figure your knees out} haha! You will entertain yourself with all your new toys and you just talk and talk! You like to play with mommy's hair before bed! We're trying to get you to sleep in your big girl bed & you are not having it! We love you, so excited for the next few months as we await spring and summer!

MCKINLEE | Six Months

Well it's a happy 6 months and your first thanksgiving! We started the day by getting you dressed in your super cute shirt from the pink lilli and a tutu that mommy made! Our first stop was aunt Robyn's to visit with everyone on papa Ryan's side of the family! Then we came back to Mimi and Papa's and ate some more food! You tried some of uncle Brett's mashed potatoes, yummy! We ate wayyy too much food but that's what the holiday's are all about, you'll learn that soon enough!

You also turned six months on black friday! So crazy to me, how fast you're growing! You're check-up isn't actually for another week! But I will make some estimates for time sake since we're moving into our new home! Mommy finally got to do her "nesting" and paint your room pretty pink and you have a nice big closet to hold all your clothes!!

Weight: 18lbs
Height: 26 inches

You're talking, laughing, and loving like crazy! You definitely know who Mommy and Daddy are! You rolled over for the first time this month from your back to your belly, but you get frustrated because you can't get back over! You take baby food good! We're about to start you on it for all three meals! Won't take a bottle, so we're working on a sippy cup!

HOLIDAY | Christmas

As the holiday season rolls in, I'm getting everything together to make your first Christmas the most special it can be! I started by getting some family pictures done, so we have plenty of pictures to pick from for our first family Christmas card! I also got you 2 outfits, just in case you have to have a wardrobe change at one point!

You have the sweetest Thanksgiving outfit from the pink Lilli and I made a tutu to go with it! Mommy is excited! We love you very very much and can't wait to start so many traditions with you! I am really anxious for next Christmas so we can start the {elf of the shelf} tradition! But I am stuck in the now and enjoying you  right now! We are moving into our new home the first weekend of December and mommy is so excited! I am going to paint your room pink and decorate and go crazy! So fun! I love you!

You've started reaching for your toys and your toes! Mommy has finally got to use the baby bullet and make you some baby food! We've tried squashsweet potatoespeascarrotsavacado and zucchini! {of course you LOVED them all!} You've started making a grunting noise when you get excited and make this silly face that makes you look like papa!

Also, you were a pea in a pod for Halloween and Addi Grace was a little ghost! You slept most of the time and you loved trying a tootsie pop! yum! So ready to welcome the holiday season and your first Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I tried out the baby bullet when I made you some baby food! So fun! We went to Ma Shirley and Pa Jim's and did the traditional baby bath in the sink picture! So I posted a picture of that, you had so much fun and we loved comparing it to the picture of daddy in the sink ;)

Razorbacks play Alabama at home this year and we could not be more excited! Although last weekends loss against Louisiana-Monroe.. was harsh, we were still out there to cheer them on. I had a onsie made for that says "Beat Bama" and a sweet red flower headband to go with it! Although it was an upset, 52-0 we love tailgating and just hanging out with friends and family so we at least enjoyed that as much as possible! it rained and our tailgate tent was a swampy mess. I can't wait until McKinlee is big enough to start talking and wear cheerleading outfits to the games! I am so glad I met the love of my life and we made such a sweet baby where we get to raise in the heart of Arkansas. We love the south.

where tea is sweet and accents are sweeter;
summer starts in April;
front porches are wide and words are long;
macaroni and cheese is a vegetable;
 pecan pie is a staple;
Y’all is the only proper pronoun;
chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy;
   everything is darling and someone is always getting their heart blessed.

Here is us cheering on the razorbacks!

THE MAMA | I hope you dance

As a young adult, there were so many wants and dreams I had for myself at nineteen. I wanted to finish school, and marry Justin, and get a new car, start a career. All that changed when I started growing a sweet baby inside of me. Don't get me wrong she is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and despite the timing of this blessed miracle, I will finish school and get married and start a career--but for now it's all in good time.

 I have so many wants and desires for McKinlee to succeed, in everything she does. I know she is going to try and fail and things will take trial and error to make it right. As a mama, I know it's going to break my heart, but I know it's what's best for her. I want you to do things on your own, I want to raise you up to love Jesus, and obey your elders. I want you to dance and sing. I want you to play soccer like mommy & golf like daddy! I want you to care about school and having a big career. I want you to be independent and do things, I don't want to correct you and make you feel like your best wasn't good enough. {you will always be good enough!}

I want you to love unconditionally. I want you to be headstrong and never let people walk all over you. I want to teach you manners, and chores and teach you to be good with money. I want you to be a respectful citizen when you leave in 18 years and go off to college. "Strict parents create sneaky kids." I was talking with aunt Gracie the other day and we were talking about how when you have strict parents, you have to sneak around to do things you're not supposed to. I want to be the parent that you have to sneak around, not the one that let's you do bad things, just so, "at least I know where you are.." I want you to be able to open up to me, and trust me with your concerns.

I want you to know that family is number one. Everywhere you go in life, if you have nothing. you always have family. We will love you forever, through anything. Never feel like you can't come to mommy and daddy for anything, we will always help you with what we can! We love you more than words can describe. We want you to grow old, and make good friends that you'll have forever. We want you to love, never be afraid to love.

"Never be afraid to sail away from the safe harbor. ExploreDreamDiscover."

ARKANSAS | First Woo Pig Sooie

McKinlee met her great Nini & great papa Bud this weekend! They came up from Pocahontas,AR for the holiday and of course she was as sweet as can be and just loved on everyone. She is starting to recognize who Gracie is, {her Mimi's little yorkie!} and GracieJo is just about as curious! They'll be the best of friends I am sure!

M got a little cold, which is either from allergies and the change of the season or a cold. Either way I heard one sniffle and called the doctor's office! I am still learning at this mama thing and what is and isn't severe! To me, it's all severe! You should have seen me the other day during her photo shoot, she got bit by an ant and I flipped out, "Do I need to take her to the doctor?? Go get benadryl!? Is she ok!? Oh my Gosh!!" My mom was like, chill. out. Anyways, her little allergies, I just gave her some nasal drops, which she wasn't fond of, and the nurse said if that doesn't work, try a humidifier in the house! I've heard it might be teething.. at 3 months.. breastfeeding might be ending sooner than we thought.

Well, if you don't know our families are avid supporters of the Arkansas Razorbacks! We yell Woo Pig like it's nobody's business! I personally like football and baseball season, but I think Justin is a fan of all sports! who knows, maybe "Sooie" will be McKinlee's first words! {ha! it better be Mama} We went to the season opener this weekend, which was also sissy's first game, so exciting! We got to get all dressed up in our red!

BABY | Three Month Pictures

Meme's good friend Kim is trying to get her photography business off the ground {} and so she has been using you to build a baby portfolio! you're the prettiest little model! I love getting random pictures of you that aren't just me snapping the camera or video recorder every five minutes. I bring tons of different outfits and we just get through as many as we can before you're ready to eat or sleep! Then you're a diva like you're daddy when you get hungry or sleepy! so feed ya and "let you sleep, for when you wake you will move mountains!" I love that saying! Love you to the moon, sweet baby.

MCKINLEE | Three Months Old

Well, since I am just now starting this "all about McKinlee" blog I will just do a summary of the last three months! She is just the light of our little world! It's amazing how something so small can flip your whole world upside down! We are just head over heels! Let's see you're growing like a weed, mainly in the belly {haha} and healthy as can be!

Weight: 13lb
Height: 23in

Your big thing right now is your lovey that aunt O'shay got you. If you're upset it's the only thing that will do! You scoot yourself in circles during tummytime and can flip from your belly to your back! Mommy is not allowed to have sweeet tea because it makes your tummy hurt! So I will be looking forward to a big glass of that when we're done breastfeeding! :)

You smile all the time now, especially when me and daddy are playing with you in the evenings which just melts my heart! I can just tell your love for us and how you put all your trust into us without even knowing it! We will always be here to take great care of you! We love you more than ever!

PREGNANCY | McKinlee's Birth Story

My whole pregnancy was a little bit of a whirlwind but very healthy nonetheless, you can see that recap here.

At our 37 week check-up we found out she was breech and that we would be scheduling a C-section. We were excited to have her birthday scheduled, May 31, 2012.

Little did we know, she had a different ETA.

We had four baby showers between family, friends and co-workers. We were attending our last baby shower at Collier's Drugstore in Fayetteville, when in the midst of eating my body weight in diced fruit and cucumber sandwiches, I started having Braxton Hicks contractions. I didn't think anything of them, so we packed up our gifts and headed home.

We got home about 8:30 and were watching the news when I started timing my "braxton hicks" contractions, I had about 4 contractions in 12 minutes. I told Justin, "I think I am gonna call the doctor just to ask him, if we should come get checked out." Just as I got up to grab my phone, I peed. "I think my water broke," I told Justin. So I walked to the bathroom and went pee, it wouldn't stop.

Water Broke: 9:02pm

I was rushing around to make sure we didn't forget the bags, and pillows and camera, forgetting that I had amniotic fluid leaking everywhere. I will never forget Justin saying "Babe, you're leaking everywhere, go sit on the toilet until I get everything in the car!" He put towels on the seat and we were on our way. He called his family while I called my mom, my dad and my two best friends. So they were all on their way.

We arrived in the ER at Willow Creek at 9:30pm and they tested the fluid to make sure it was in fact my water, and it was. They knew she was breech, so they said call your friends and family, we will have a baby within the hour. They brought me a gown and I got changed. I was rolled back to a Pre-Op room where I would have my baby.

Spinal Tap: 10:29pm

I don't do well with needles, blood, hospitals, so it is a miracle that I was not passed out by now. I was in there by myself while Justin got his little sterile suit on. I remember asking the team of doctors, "when are we gonna get started?" They replied, "oh, you're already cut open?" Oh, ok. Can you bring my man in now?!

Justin joined me: 10:45pm

A few tugs and pulls, I heard her cry.

Because I had a C-Section, I didn't get to hold her {that's probably the only thing I hated about not having a natural birth} so I remember learning in birthing class that the babies like to hear a familiar voice once their born. I was telling Justin, "go talk to her, go tell her that you're her dad!" I wanted her to feel safe and loved. From what I heard, Justin carried her to the nursery and showing her off to our families, he said he almost cried, that melts my heart.

I had to stay in Post-Op for about thirty minutes after to get closed back up and make sure I was okay, I finally got to my room about 11:30p and see family and friends.

I saw my baby for the first time, nursed her, cuddled her, loved her: 12:00am

I sent her to the nursery that night, just because I was nervous with all of the pain medicine that I was on, I wouldn't be able to hear her cry and I would be numb from the stomach down until morning, so I wouldn't be able to get up and get her. I couldn't wait for those every two hours they brought her to me to eat. I loved those moments at 2 am just staring at how perfect she was.

The next day we had lots and lots of visitors, she is so loved.

After our second night there, of being woken up every single hour for my blood pressure to be checked, I was so ready to go home and be in our own setting.

We were headed home: Friday, May 25, 2012

As soon as we got home, Justin wanted to take McKinlee on a walk in her new stroller while I took a nap, he was already the best dad and I couldn't wait to settle into our new roles as her parents.

One week check-up!

Lots of Mimi cuddles.

We all napped a lot.

Welcome to the world, sweet baby.

Our sweet family.
