HOLIDAY | Christmas

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Well, we started out Christmas eve with a yummy dinner, which included corn casserole, you're favorite. Then we gave you a bath and let you open up your "Christmas Eve gift" {see Traditions for the contents}, and then you helped Mom and Dad bake cookies for Santa. We read the night before Christmas and then put you down about 8. We had a kitchen to put together and underestimated the time it would take to assemble. oops! So we got everything ready for you and headed to bed to watch Elf.

Christmas morning, I woke up at 7, went ahead and got ready for the day and let you get some extra sleep, even though all I wanted to do was run in there, wake you up and rush you to the living room. About 8, I made Dad get up and I went and got you, he got the camera ready to film your face when you saw your presents. You were so excited when you rounded the corner into the living room. {p.s. Christmas with kids, is way more fun than Christmas as a kid.} The pure joy and excitement they get seeing a new array of toys is so awesome and I am so thankful we are able to give her a good Christmas. I pray she learns and understands the true meaning of Christmas and is forever thankful for the life she has been given through Christ.

Later Christmas day, we headed to my Memaw's and spent Christmas with my parents, aunt and uncle and new cousin Deacon, who was adopted in Ethiopia and brought home in October! {you can follow their story at Middlecamp Moments} We have prayed for him for a long time and are so thankful he is here! McKinlee got building blocks, baby dolls, baby accessories and clothes. Mama got a new sewing machine!! Daddy got a universal gun cleaning kit and we got a GC to Olive Garden for a date night! Later that day we headed to Justin's parents and finished out Christmas day there, where McKinlee got her Melissa&Doug shopping cart to go with her kitchen, play food, toaster, microwave and a Doc McStuffins doctor bag, her favorite. So blessed by all of the people who love us and our sweet baby girl!

Merry Christmas!

HOLIDAY | Christmas

Monday, December 23, 2013

Well, mommy's cousin nicole {you're second cousin} came in town, first time since she had her tour in Afghanistan so we spent the night at GG's on Friday night to help her bake all the goodies for the Cobb Christmas party. It was so much fun! We played monopoly, listened to Christmas music and enjoyed each others company. Saturday night we had our party and you got a rocking horse that you LOVE. You got a leap frog tea set, which you also adore. We finally got to see daddy Saturday night after being away for a day and you were so excited.

Sunday we slept in for the most part, got up and around and headed to Mema the Great and Papa Jim's house for the Powell Christmas party. It is always so good to see everyone, you just get so overwhelmed. Once Addi Grace got there, you warmed up a little to everyone. We ate a yummy lunch and then opened gifts. You got a Dora pajama/sock set, a leap frog spanish/english book, two Christmas books and some candy!

We headed home to get you a good nap in and then we headed to the mall to get in line to see Santa. You can only imagine how that went. Hoping by next year, you will be a little more into the Christmas spirit. We are doing Christmas with Mimi and Papa, and Meme and Grandpa on Wednesday and finishing up with the Bolinger Christmas on Saturday the 28th. Excited for all of this family time!

FAYETTEVILLE | Lights of the Ozarks

Monday, December 9, 2013

Well, after being snowed in for three days, this mama had to get out of this house. Daddy drove us up to the square to see all of the pretty Christmas lights, it was freezing cold and spitting snow, but we bundled you up and did a quick walk around and snapped a few pictures! You loved them, pointed and talked the whole time! One of the best things about Christmas in Fayetteville!

HOLIDAY | Thanksgiving

Friday, December 6, 2013

Well, I talked daddy into putting the Christmas tree up two days before Thanksgiving {score!}, you didn't really understand what was going on but once the lights were on, you loved it! You do perfect with only pointing and saying "peetty", I've only had to get onto you a couple of times when you try to pull your Doc McStuffins ornaments off. We had an awesome, but busy Thanksgiving.

We started out heading to Mimi's house about 10, I made my first cheese ball and it got lots of compliments, so we snacked on that until lunch. We ate at Mimi and Papa's and visited with everyone until about 2, and then headed to GG's house to hangout there for a little while, you had fun playing with Ash-Lynn. After we made it back to Fayetteville, we swung by and picked daddy up and headed to Aunt Ra's for more family fun! You love playing with Gunner and Gibbs, and us adults love to play mafia and cards! You were worn out, we called it a day about 10, and you slept until 10am the next morning.

Your first SNOW DAY was on December 6, 2013. You and mama got to take off work on the Thursday before because of ice, but then Thursday night into Friday morning we got about 5-6 inches of snow, and I couldn't wait to get you bundled up and take you out. Daddy ran to Mimi's to get a sled, but after no such luck, we ran to Lowe's and got one of the two sleds left! Lucky us! We sled down the hill by our house and it was so much fun! The first time down, Daddy sat at the back, then mama, then you; you did not like it. I think your face was frozen as were mama and dada's! We sled about two more times, and daddy grabbed a bowl of snow for some snow ice cream and then we headed inside! I think we are planning on heading out again tomorrow, so maybe you'll like it a little more then!

We love you and are so excited for you to experience Christmas traditions this year. We started the elf on the shelf tradition but I am going to wait for the holidays to be over and do a whole post on #hollytheelf.
