PREGNANCY | 25 Weeks

Friday, May 29, 2015

We will literally meet our sweet boy in 14 weeks or less!

How Far along | 25 weeks
Size of baby | Rutabaga {13.5 inches, 1.5 pounds}

Gender | BOY!

Maternity clothes | Found some super comfy tanks from Walmart for $4! Score! I'm buying one in every color - also the rain is out of control so I've been wearing lots of leggings with Piko tunics!

Movement | Lots! I love it so much! I notice it mostly at night once I get settled into bed and around lunch time while I'm sitting at work!

Sleep | Between trying to get comfortable and a sweet three year old little girl that is "scary of thunder, mama" I haven't got a lot of sleep whatsoever.

Cravings | Those giant croissants from Sam's Club, grilled everything, tomatoes, Chickfila peach shake {and all other things Chickfila}, and green beans!

Best moment of the week  | Finalizing a baby shower date and adding things to the registry as I think of them. I didn't think registering for boy stuff would be fun, but it's definitely just as fun! Give me all the baby polos.

LET'S PARTY | Frozen

Sunday, May 24, 2015

So, I am usually all about patterns and just a neutral theme so we don't end up with a bunch of "themed toys", if that makes sense? Her first birthday we did just a rainbow theme, and last year I had planned the most beautiful pink and gold themed shabby chic party. If you know me, you know I am all about party planning - I absolutely love it. So I typically start planning her parties in October, however, last year around February I realized she really LOVED Doc McStuffins and so I did a quick switch-a-roo and threw a Doc party and she loved it.
This year she was old enough to tell me what kind of birthday she wanted so we did something original that almost no one did... all the things Frozen. Now usually, we go all out and rent somewhere, I'll host games and have everything planned to a tee. However, this year we decided since we have a house now with a backyard that we would just have it here and enjoy the simplicity of having friends and family over. I loved it. It was perfect. We didn't play any games and I lost track of time and almost forgot about cupcakes. The kids had a blast! We are so thankful for our family and friends.
McKinlee had a great time and she's so social and loves her swingset. She loved all of her gifts and is up to her head in Frozen stickers and all the cute clothes Old Navy can buy thanks to her auntie Gracie! She got lots of outside toys for the summer and an Elsa sing-a-long doll that Daddy and I can't find an 'off' switch for...
We can't wait to see what the next year is going to hold!

PREGNANCY | 24 Weeks

Told you week 14 wouldn't be the only one I missed, we've been busy birthday party planning for our sweet three year old! No worries, I made time for a 24 week post this weekend! I dug out our bags to pack for the hospital and have been registering for stuff like crazy as I think of it, so I don't forget what we NEED. I have been painting frames and crafting for his room and I'm really settling into the idea of being a mama of TWO. So excited to meet my sweet boy!
How Far along | 24 weeks
Size of baby | Ear of corn {12 inches, 1 pound}

Gender | BOY!

Maternity clothes | Still fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans with the rubberband trick - but tops are getting a little more snug - I need to go invest in some maxi's from Target and some tanks from Old Navy!

Movement | Lots! I love it so much! Some nights he goes crazy and others he just gives me a few to let me know he's in there and then falls asleep for the night! Love that sweet boy!

Sleep | None. At all.

Cravings | Those giant croissants from Sam's Club, buffalo chicken dip, strawberries and chocolate ice cream. So yeah.

Best moment of the week  | Celebrating our sweet girl turning 3! Also, Justin finally felt him move and it was the sweetest thing watching his face light up, it became real for him at that moment! He's such an awesome daddy!

MCKINLEE | t h r e e

3. Three years. 1,095 days. 26,280 hours. You get it, my baby is growing up on me.

It seems like just yesterday we were sitting on the back porch at Justin's parents house and she was 5 days old and we had to stay there for a week because my c-section abdomen couldn't make it up the stairs at our apartment complex. The one bedroom apartment that we crammed all of our stuff into, because we were two twenty year old kids that got thrown into parenthood way too soon.
It was literally the best thing that's ever happened to us. Being parents. That's the best.

She will never know the favor she did us, and we'll spend forever trying to thank her and God for letting us be her parents. Enough sappy business - my sweet 7lb baby is turning into a sassy threenager and I'm gonna tell you all about it. {lots of pictures included}

We don't have your 3 year well-check until June 5 - but you like to step on the scale when daddy weighs himself and you're at a steady 34lbs.

You wear 3T shorts/pants - 4T dresses/rompers - 5T shirts to cover that big ol' belly + size 9T shoe.
You love bubbles, gardening {read: playing in the dirt}, swinging, jumping on the trampoline, flash cards, baby dolls and reading, lots of reading.

You're favorite foods are chicken nuggets, cuties, bananas, grapes, strawberries, french fries, fruit snacks, apple sauce, any fruit cup, all candy ever, granola bars and ice cream.
You are still an excellent eater - you always have been. I thought the older you got the pickier you would get, but thankfully I was wrong. Some of your favorite meals are: Papa's grilled shrimp. enchilladas, quesidillas, grilled cheese, any casserole I decide to throw together, grilled pork chops, grilled corn. I love that you'll try anything before you decide if you like it or not, I hope you continue that at the dinner table and in life.
You are pretty much potty trained, you only wear pull ups at night.
You have the most precious manners, almost always say please when asking for something and when we sit down for dinner you will always say "thank you mommy, for making this for me." sweetest. ever.

We are working on your sleep schedule. You slept with us until you were about 9 months old and we finally transitioned you to your crib. You slept great with rain forest lullabies. When we moved to our house you were 2.5 and I thought you would do just fine without the music - so we just did a night light. We got you a twin sized bed about 3 months ago and the transition has been kind of rough. We get into Mom and Dad's bed at 8:15-8:30 and watch one episode of Sofia the First and then read you a book in your bed, and then you go to sleep --- cry until we give you a thousand "one more hug and one more kiss" and then after about 30 minutes of screaming, you'll fall asleep. It's tragic and breaks my mama heart.

You have ALL your teeth + love "getting the bugs off".
Your vocabulary is phenomenal. I loved you being a baby, but I love even more being able to have an entire conversation with you like two girlfriends at a coffee shop. I pick you up everyday after work and you'll say "how was work today?" I'll reply "kind of busy." and you'll just say "oh, okay."
You love being outside! You got a trampoline for Christmas and we got you a playhouse/swingset for your birthday, you call it your castle and you asked to go outside everyday when we get home. Thankful for grilling season, you play, daddy grills and mommy relaxes. We are enrolling you in soccer for the fall season! So exciting!

Your creative/pretend play is something I love sneaking up on you and watching. You're loving "grocery shopping" right now. You get a "list" and pack whatever you can in your shopping cart and always kiss us goodbye. So sweet!
You're going to be a BIG SISTER. I am so thankful that we're able to give you a sibling to grow up with. You have finally started calling him a boy, rather than sister. You give my belly lots of hugs and kisses and when we get home from school and change into our comfy clothes, you'll pull my shirt up and say "how was your day Carter?"  I can't wait to watch the two of you grow up together.
The last three years have been a whirlwind of happy, sad and driving me crazy with your sassy attitude but I am so thankful to be your mama. Daddy and I will always be your biggest supporters! This next year is going to fly by after we welcome your little brother, but I am going to make it a priority to make time with just me and my best girl. I love you!

PREGNANCY | 22 Weeks

Monday, May 11, 2015

I can't believe we'll meet our sweet boy in sometime in the next 17 weeks!

That's crazy town - going to enjoy spoiling McKinlee the next few months while she's still an only child.
How far along | 22 weeks
Size of baby | Butternut Squash {11inches, 1 pound}
Gender | BOY!
Maternity clothes | Same as all the other weeks - mainly pants - some of the time. Lots of dresses and maxi skirts!
Weight gain | 10-12lbs {I need to lay off the Chickfila}
Movement | Lots and lots of movement! I love it so much! I can feel it on the outside now - so it's just getting him not to be shy so Justin can feel it too!
Sleep | I slept horrible this week - just waking up around 1am and can't get comfortable and then one night, I had really bad indigestion from dinner so did not sleep well. Thankful the weekend is here and I can rest!
Cravings | I haven't had any real cravings lately - I've been drinking a lot of sweet tea and pink lemonade, so good. Craving popcorn as an afternoon snack at work.
Best moment of the week | In the hectic hour of getting home from work, rushing around getting dinner ready and filling up the dishwasher with dirty dishes, McKinlee stopped me, lifted my shirt, kissed my belly button and said "Hey Carter brother, did you have a good day?" I was a puddle of all things mama - Can't wait to celebrate being a mom this weekend! It's what I was meant to do.

PREGNANCY | 21 Weeks

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

and the countdown begins | only 19 weeks to go!
I was reading on my BabyCenter App and my sweet boy's lips are becoming more defined and he is developing eyebrows! The eyebrows that will droop when he's sad and rise when he can't believe we're giving him a curfew. I can't wait to meet him!
How far along | 21 weeks!
Size of baby | Carrot {10.5inches, almost a pound!}
Gender | BOY!
Maternity clothes | Mainly just pants - but still doing what I can to not have to pay outrageous prices for maternity shorts that I'm only going to wear on weekends!
Weight gain | Still a steady 7-8lbs!
Movement | Tons! I even felt one on the outside when I got settled in bed last night - but he was shy when I asked Justin to try and feel. Little stinker!
Sleep | Not well - and now McKinlee has started having "bad dreams" at night. AKA: she has an internal alarm clock that wakes her up at 1am every night so she can sleep with Mom and Daddy. She's such a cuddler!

Cravings | MMM - I craved lots of chicken with McKinlee {grilled, zaxby's, chickfila} and I've noticed I want it a lot more lately. We have been grilling lots of chicken - tonight's menu is hamburgers! Yum!
Best moment of the week | Feeling Carter kick from the outside - finished up painting a mirror for his room and a picture frame that I found at Goodwill. I finished up a few graphic prints for his room and I am going to start on a DIY crib mobile later this month! Oh, and baby shower planning!
