HOLIDAY | Thanksgiving

Friday, November 25, 2016

So much to be thankful for this holiday season! We've got two good jobs, two healthy babies, our own health and a home to make memories in. My brothers spent the night Wednesday and we woke up and headed to my Grandma's around 10am. Hung out with all of the cousins and ate lots of food! My Grandma Susan made the best hashbrown casserole, oh my goodness, can't wait to go and eat leftovers today!

After that, we headed to our second Thanksgiving dinner at Justin's mom's house and we hung out outside most of the day. Once it cooled off we built a fire and hung out on the porch while we ate leftover turkey. We headed home once it got dark, watched a few episdoes of Doc McStuffins and headed to bed!

McKinlee loved showing off her pumpkin pie shirt to everyone!

This is our 6th Thanksgiving together and feeling so thankful for him each day.

Daddy's best girl!

How the first 18 pictures went...

Daddy's sweet boy!

Love this sweet family of mine so much! I have so much to be thankful for!

Also, drum roll, Holly is back! Tonight we'll read the book with McKinlee and Carter and tell them all about how she watches and reports to Santa, whether they've been good or not! I'm excited to see Carter's reactions this year to her shenanigans!

THE MAMA | What's up Wednesday

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Joining in on the fun with Shay at Mixmatchmama to share what we've been up to this month!

- What we're eating this week -
all the thanksgiving food.

- What I'm reminiscing about -
Carter started saying "I love you" this month and I just never want to forget his sweet baby babble. How McKinlee will say "mama hold" when he cries because that's what I say, love those sweet babes.

-What I'm loving -
That the weather in Arkansas is finally starting to get cold. I seriously wore a dress and sandals last week. This week has actually felt like fall, chilly mornings and sunny but still cool afternoons. Just in time for it to turn winter, which better bring a lot of snow.

- What we've been up to -
The kids are out of school this week so they've been staying with my mom and brothers during the day! I love that they live here now and the kids can spend so much time with them! We search Netflix and Hulu every night to see if any more Christmas movies have been added, last night we watched Dear Santa. We're patiently waiting for Mistle Tones to be added back on, if not we'll buy it, because best. movie. ever.

- What I'm dreading -
I don't really dread anything about these last two months of the year but if I had to say something, it would be transitioning our one year old to not take a paci. Bedtime has been a little rough the past few days, especially since he is a little sickly so he wants that comfort, but we're staying strong!

- What I'm working on -
I have something I am working on but it's still in the early stages so I don't want to give any spoilers yet!

- What I'm excited about -
This will be the first real Christmas where Carter and McKinlee will both be interested in Holly and both be excited to open gifts! I love seeing them together, so I can't wait to see what Christmas morning will be like this year! This is from last year, poor bub was so stationary!

- What I'm watching/reading -
Justin and I recently started watching Revenge on Netflix once we finished Friday Night Lights, we hadn't found another show we were both interested in. He watched Breaking Bad after I would fall asleep, and I would watch Pretty Little Liars in my spare time. Someone recommended Revenge and we liked the first season but we kind of fell off the band wagon during the second. We are currently are watching Criminal Minds and are loving it! We watch about 2 episodes a night after the kids fall asleep.

- What I'm listening to -
I created a Christmas playlist on my Spotify and it includes all the Pentatonix and country Christmas. I am loving Pentatonix's new album! McKinlee's favorite is Little Drummer Boy, mine is probably Don't Worry Be Happy/Winter Wonderland.

- Favorite Thanksgiving tradition -
I don't know that we have any Thanksgiving traditions, I know we get up early and head to my Grandma's and we eat there for lunch while we hang out with cousins and aunts and uncles. Then we head to Bolinger family Thanksgiving for more family time and games, and then we finish off the evening at Justin's mom's house. There just isn't enough time in the day. I can't wait until we can host Thanksgiving dinner at our house some day.

HOLIDAY | Want, Need, Wear, Read

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

Joining Andrea at Momfessionals for another link-up and this time it's our "want, need, wear, read" Christmas list!

This is the big gift I told my parents I wanted, a silhouette cameo 3! Since we just got a ton of stuff for our home for the bridal shower/wedding, I can actually ask for something I want, and not something we need for the house! I have a cricut but I have heard so many great things about this machine! Fingers crossed Santa delivers, if not, my 25th birthday is coming up and that calls for a fancy gift.

I need a new purse so bad, but I just haven't found one that I love. I am wanting something very similar to this one, The closest Nordstrom is Kansas City and I'm not fond of ordering handbags online just because size and color differences but for the price I may just have to do it!

T-shirts. My wardrobe love languange. Our workplace may be switching to jeans every day instead of just Fridays, and if that happens, gimme all the vneck tshirts, with a chunky necklace and some booties. I feel like this is the perfect shirt for that and they are only $15 and come in a variety of colors! I am super picky about t-shirts, they can't be too wide, but can't be too clingy, needs to be comfy but still looks professional, not like a loungy pajama t-shirt. I'm excited to order one of these to try it out!

Ugh Chip and Jo. The inspiration these two give me, home goals, family goals, wife goals, daughter of Jesus goals. They are so humble and use their platform to tell the world of Jesus and I love that. I need to sign up for the subscription of their magazine, not only for the home ideas, but recipes as well! I love all things fixer upper, even if that means I have to read.

FOOD | Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookies

Monday, November 21, 2016

I got a KitchenAid Mixer for my Bridal Shower back in September but I haven't made the time to use it yet with everything going on. Finally I had the house semi-clean, Carter was napping and McKinlee was all in to help!

Let me just start by saying these were not intended to be egg-less cookies, however, I was laying out all my ingredients and realized I had just used the last of my eggs with our breakfast. A quick google search later, I had a recipe to merge with the original recipe I was going to use and we were ready to go!

1/2 C All-Purpose Flour
dash of Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
 dash of Salt
1/4 C Organic Sugar
1/4 C Brown Sugar
1/4 C Oats
1 tsp Baking Soda
2 tbsp Milk
8 tbsp Butter

Preheat oven to 350.

Mix dry ingredients {flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt}

Fluff butter until creamy, mixing on low.

Add in sugars, once mixed well, add in vanilla and milk.

Fold in chocolate chips! {Sneak a few just to make sure they taste good}

Roll into 1 inch balls and place on greased pan.

Bake 10-12 minutes!

FAYETTEVILLE | The Farmer's Market

Saturday, November 19, 2016

Ah the weekend! Justin woke up about 4:25am to head to the woods to hunt and McKinlee crawled into bed with me about 5am. Carter woke up about 6am or so, and we officially took his paci away last night so he was up and ready to get out of his crib!

I decided since we were up so early, I would bundle us all up and introduce the kids to the famous farmer's market on the square. I've never wanted to brave it with them, but thought why not? McKinlee loved it, she loved seeing all of the different stands with vegetables and they have the Christmas stuff up already so she loved seeing all of that!

There are several different local musicians and/or college students that will come up and sing and she loved that, she just kept watching her and saying "she sings good!" I gave her a couple of quarters to toss in there, she's the sweetest.

I love spending quality time with my people we got in the car and were heading home to make eggs and toast for breakfast, and McKinlee said "thanks for taking me to the market!" I love that she loves to learn about everything, she's so curious and wants to know why something is the way that it is, where the vegetables come from? how they grow? what's a farmer? Bub just chillin' in the stroller taking it all in. I love being their mama!

On our way home we stopped to take a picture in our neighborhood because the trees are at their peak and just so beautiful!

and I'm obsessed with the bright yellow orange the trees in our yard turn! I love them so much!

THE MAMA | Friday Favorites

Friday, November 18, 2016

Link-up with the following Mamas for Friday Favorites

I love being able to dress work casual in the position I hold at work. We aren't allowed to wear jeans right now but you can usually get away with colored pants and usually black denim. Anyways, this isn't about my pants, it's about the cutest, comfiest vest from Old Navy. I've been wanting one so the other day I was in there and all outerwear was on sale, 50% OFF. Woo! It's light weight and I feel like I can pair it with a piko like this for work, and on the weekends with a flannel and jeans!
You can find it HERE - the color I have on is Salamander.

I GOT A NEW CAR. Feeling so thankful for a new vehicle during this holiday season. It has air conditioning and the sun roof doesn't jam. it's truly a win-win for everyone.

Two of my favorite things, Christmas and crafts. McKinlee had one of her first "real" homework assignments, as real as they get in Pre-K. She was told to document her favorite holiday tradition and return it to school. I noticed a teeny tiny phrase at the end, "parents feel free to help your child." Ok, then. So I asked her what her favorite thing that our family does for Christmas and she told me about the time that Holly, our elf, strung toilet paper all over our house. So, we{I} got her project all ready to turn in. She colored the Christmas tree and watched me sprinkle glitter, but we had fun spending time together!

I was organizing my Pinterest boards recently and came across this paint color, that I originally posted in Dream Home for a boys room. However, since watching Fixer Upper, this is the color I want to paint our exterior brick! It's going to take some persuading to get Justin on board!

Gimme ALL the holiday shirts! Picked these Thanksgiving shirts up this week for the kids and I love them! I have recently gone with more practical outfits for holidays because they run around crazy with all their cousins and it's just easier to put them in pants and a shirt, rather than some fancy outfit that's going to get turkey gravy all over it! We order most of our custom holiday shirts from Threads Sew Chic!
